In any cultural club, it is very easy to talk about a culture, to dance and sing, to teach about the customs, but the best way to truly understand a culture is to experience it first hand. For the Filipino Culture, much of that understanding comes from meals.

AFIA enlists the help of several members of the community to host potlucks for small groups of AFIA members. Community members commit to serving meat or vegetarian dishes for a certain number of students, and then AFIA members sign up to attend potlucks at the houses of their choosing. Here, the members have the opportunity to eat genuine filipino cuisine and hear of experiences shared by people from our homeland, giving an intimate way for everyone to be connected to the filipino culture and beginning the afia aunties potluck Initiative.
